The Canada Dental Benefit is designed to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents and guardians can apply if the child(ren) receiving dental care is under 12 years old and does not have access to a dental insurance plan (including employer provided) or fully covered through a provincial, territorial or any other government program. This benefit is only available for 2 periods.

• The first benefit period occurred between October 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
• The second benefit period opens July 1, 2023 and will run until June 30, 2024.

You can apply for the second benefit period if:

• Your child(ren) receives dental care services in Canada between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
• Your child(ren) is under 12 years old on July 1, 2023 and they do not have access to a private dental insurance plan (including employer provided).
• Your adjusted family net income (AFNI) was under $90,000 for the 2022 tax year.helphelp
• You are currently receiving the Canada Child Benefit (CCB).
• You have, or will have, out of pocket expenses not fully covered by a federal, provincial, territorial or municipal program or plan for dental care for your child(ren).

You can apply for the Canada Dental Benefit – additional payment if:

• You have not yet applied for the second benefit period and you have already received a CDB payment for the first benefit period (October 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023). Your out of pocket expenses for the first benefit period must have been over $650.
• Your child(ren) received dental care services in Canada in the second benefit period (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024), and you have already received a CDB payment for this period. Your out of pocket expenses in the second benefit period must have been, or are expected to be, over $650, and you did not receive a CDB payment for your child(ren) in the first benefit period.
